Everyone get's it right sometimes, don't they?

I would first like to say, "No this is not a Glenn Beck puff piece"! I am absolutely NOT a blind follower of Mr. Beck, nor anyone from this planet for that matter. Yes, while I am a Christian, I am most certainly not a "Doom and Gloom" sort of person either. I am "NOT" a person that runs around screaming Obama is the Anti-Christ or Soros is the product of the devil. The way I look at Biblical prophesy is pretty simple. If and when it happens, it happens. My job as a Christian is to pray, believe and trust that God will take care of me. I am not going to spend my days eating Tums antacid and sweating over things that I have zero control over. Then their are the people that do worry and stress over this sort of thing. I suppose this piece might be a little bit for you, but to be honest it is more for the people that are on the fence or pondering. It might even be somewhat for the Glenn Beck haters of the world.

Let's begin with being hypothetical. A good General such as Patton would say, you have to think like your enemy to defeat your enemy. I cannot remember the exact quote, I do know that is very close. I believe one of the Caesar's also said something along those lines. Let's think like our enemy for a moment. Before we can do that, we have to establish who our enemy is, don't we? I am going to say this to the masses before I go any further. Read Beck's book "BROKE" . I am saying this because in the back of the book he has nearly 100 pages of references for his claims. I simply do not have the room here to site all of the references. They are accurate, they have been massively researched by his staff and the publisher. He does not throw out garbage that is not highly researched in this book. In sum, BROKE delves deeply into how we managed to get ourselves in the financial mess we are in today, who did it, why they did it, the history of other civilizations that did the same, how we are repeating those empires that crumbled mistakes and how to save ourselves. Yes, I know that was a long run on sentence. For instance, did you know that in 1960 we exported $3.5 billion more than we bought from foreign countries? In 2008 we imported more than $374 billion more than we sold. Something is wrong with this picture!

In my book "Raised in Hell", I delve fairly deeply into the problems the children of alcoholic's face when older. Raised in Hell is the story of my childhood and how I spent the better portion of my youth being programmed to self defeat myself as an adult. I get very deeply into that in my next book "Living in Hell" that is a bit over half completed. Why do I bring this up? The fact is we have some 15 million people in this country being treated for alcoholism at any given time. We have some 5 million being treated for drug addiction. We have by most accounts probably double those numbers of people that are addicts that are not seeking treatment yet for various reasons. Do the math! That is some 50 million people that are in trouble! Either as a victim or as the addict and more if you count the children. The fact is, by all accounts we have 1/3 of our society that is affected by alcohol and drugs. That is a lot of people when you take all the victims and add that to the drinkers and druggies. Now for the big question, " HOW MANY ARE IN POSITIONS OF POWER ?"

How many are State Senator's, Governor's, Mayor's, United States Congressmen, Police Officers, Bankers, Real Estate Brokers, Doctor's, Lawyer's, Investor's and the list goes on. These are the people that control our economy and our society folks. These are the people that make our little engine that could, "run" if you will. What happens when the bulk of your policy making and decision making personnel are either alcoholic's are untreated ACOAs (Adult Children of Alcoholics)? It is my contention that the list goes deep. Take our President for instance. NO, I am not getting political here, I am pointing a very real problem that he has discussed on many occasions. The President's father was actually a very sick alcoholic. By the President's own descriptions of this! The father of our President actually had his legs cut off in a car wreck because he was drunk! The end result was that the President was basically dumped as a child onto his grandparents door step in Hawaii. Again, I refer you back to "Raised" because of the gravity of what this does to a child. Now he is President!

He is the President with all the scars on his heart and soul from being raised in that type of environment. Again, not political, this is factual. How many times have we heard the President say "That one is on me, I made that mistake"? You have not, for over 2 years now he has placed blame at the feet of Mexico, Israel, China, Bush 43, Bush 41, Russia or anyone else he could. He has never taken blame for anything. Now, let's look at Bush 43. In recent interviews with the former President whom admitted and was treated, here is your difference. Matt Laure asked him about "WMDs in Iraq". The fact is this, the CIA let him down and gave him bad information, the British Intelligence did the same, the NSA did the same, oh heck everyone and their dog gave the man bad information. (No I am not defending the former President, I am using this as an example) How did Bush answer? He said, "Yes I made a huge mistake"! Even though he could very legitimately blame half the world for bull shipping him, he took the hit! His answer was " I was President", I have to accept the responsibility! No different than a baseball manager. The owner looks to the manager for why his team is losing. The manager technically is not responsible for running the bases, hitting, catching etc. it is the managers head on the block when the team loses.

Back to the books "BROKE " and "Raised in Hell ". It is my humble contention that an argument can be made that our society is in the process of breaking down because of drugs and alcohol. Now, if that is the case, then what happens if Glenn Beck is right in his book? What happens to us. What happens when you have 1/3 of society that thinks and reacts to situations as an alcoholic does? Let's say Glenn is right (hypothetically) about hyper-inflation coming the American shores. He could be, or he could not be, but let's say he is for the purpose of this piece. What happens when you have 1/4th of the American workforce out of work and a loaf of bread cost $25 or a gallon of milk is $50? What happens then? Don't say it can't happen here, because it is happening in Europe now, it has happened in Mexico and many, many other countries. You had a half million people in the streets the other day in London because the government was raising students tuition rates at the College's. There are not a half million college students in England folks. What the heck is going on here?

But back to my argument? What happens in New York City? What happens when you have 4 million people in Chicago that are getting hungry? What about San Francisco? Can you imagine? Let your brain run on this topic for a moment. Back during the Great Depression, we had bread lines as they were called. But the bulk of America lived on the land or a good portion of them did. We had a population of some 35-50 million people depending on what part of the Depression you want to talk about. Today we have over 300 million people and most do not have a clue how to shoot a deer or turkey and clean it for cooking. Our population today only knows how to play WII and run a DVD player. What are you going to do with 100 million unhappy and hungry people?

To bring all this together, my hypothesis is this. A very large portion of our society today in America is either recovering, wet or the victims of alcoholism and drug abuse. They do not have the tools that enable them to conduct their lives as a "normal" person does. They are in change of us at all levels of authority. What happens if Glenn Becks book "BROKE" comes to pass and our currency does melt down. Oh do not think it cannot happen, watch the George Soros video, then watch the other 20 at YOUTUBE. This is the man that took down the Bank of England and destroyed the British Sterling on purpose. This is the man that took down the economy of Thailand, Malaysia and several other countries. He did it all on purpose and earned billions upon billions of dollars doing so. Their are interviews on YouTube of him explaining that he enjoys it, it is a game for him and he even says that "a controlled devaluation of the American dollar is needed in order to expand his one" World economy" that he is seeking to implement. The video's are there, do not scream at me. You can here him say it for yourself. If he succeeds in his goal, what does this mean for you and me? Will all of the people that called Glenn Beck crazy, will they apologize to him?

If you are having a problem with alcohol, please get help. If you have children and have a problem, in the name of God please get help. Read the destruction it causes. Look around you, for this problem in my humble opinion might very well be one of the causes we are where we are today. I truly believe that America is sick right now. She is in desperate need of leadership that recognizes that we have a problem in this country and we might very well be teetering on the brink of financial disaster. The who did it's, the how did we get here's and the rest do not matter anymore. The fact is "we are here". Now what do we do about it? Sober up, pray, work hard, love each-other, that is our way out.

In closing, I welcome your feedback. I love political discussions. I on the other hand request that they be polite and respectful of each other's opinions. Again, I am not bashing the President, I am not playing a harp for Glenn Beck. My entire thing has been "what if"? My entire thing is "the drug and alcohol rebellion from the 60's and 70's has now come home to roost so to speak. Give us your opinions but do it nicely and I will agree and disagree with you all day long....Hope to hear from you soon and God Bless each of you. Ken (raised in hell series @ facebook) come on over and visit.

Very good hub. I for one feel that GOD knows and only he knows when he is going to set things straight. And all we can do is try to live the right way, to help others and to trust in GOD. It isn't right to dwell on the end and get sick over it...its going to come and we can either have faith or be "faint out of fear"...I choose to trust in GOD and he hasn't failed me yet. =) Good hub.

Thank you so much again for the kind words. You are so insightful and full of wisdom. You're also 100% correct. That was my intent. If Glenn is correct, then most will learn God's intent which is to force them to rely on him. If he is wrong, then nothing but good can come from trusting him, and for that our nation get's better. Again, thank you so much.
