BAN GUNS or PASS THEM OUT ?

OVERVIEW

I do have to confess, this tragedy in Tucson has affected me greatly. It has affected me on a level of the heart, because I too am a father. I have a mother and mom's were shot and killed also. I can only weep for the victims. On another level, it has infuriated me from that standpoint of THE TOTALLY STUPID SHERIFF OF PIMA COUNTY. Sheriff DUPNIK with his incredible zeal for his 15 minutes of fame has sat his stupid butt in front of so many television cameras, that what he has in effect done was to score a win for the defense of the shooter. It turns out that this Sheriff is in fact a Liberal Democrat with an agenda. I heard an interesting interview this morning with a couple of Defense Attorneys on the morning news shows. It seems that all the evidence pointed toward this moron ( meaning Sheriff ) and his department knew about this larger moron ( the shooter ) and should have done something about him on their third visit to the College where the shooter had to be removed from class for very strange activities. One would have thought that by the fifth visit to the school, they would certainly have done something. But they did not. The notes that the law enforcement have found in the " shooter's " home in his handwriting suggest that this cat planned all this way in advance. The District Attorney could have made a very strong case that maybe this guy was not as crazy as everyone had thought he is. Now with " BARNEY FIFE aka SHERIFF DUPNIK " seizing his 15 minutes of fame instead of doing his job, he has given all the ammunition ( no pun intended ) in the world to the defense for an insanity plea. Now instead of the Taxpayers of Arizona enjoying the pleasure of inserting a needle in this guys arm for the hideous murders, they get to invest $50,000 a year to feed this jerk wad for the next 50 years. This is because he is only 22 years old.

THANK YOU SHERIFF DUMMY ! Most intelligent Sheriff's without a political agenda will go on television after an event such as this and sound very close to something along these lines. We have a suspect in custody. This is his name, I will not give any details of the case as we are still investigating the case. " hand waving reporter ask " sheriff, sheriff, do you believe the shooter was responsible because of conservative talk radio and Sarah Palin? ".......Sheriff, I will only answer questions regarding the event itself and then maybe not. I will not jeopardize the case by commenting further. Have a nice day....and the Duke strides off into the sunset ..... Not this time, this idiot just loaded the defense Attorney with an AK-47 and even went so far as to show her how to use it. In closing on this topic, I would bet that when this clown gets to walk to the Mental Farm instead of Death Row the good citizens of Tucson and Pima County will not re-elect Barney.

WHY WRITE THIS HUB TODAY?

As I said this fiasco has affected me on several different levels. The first being the grieving father side of me. The second being the political animal in me of being furious with the Idiot Sheriff of Pima County. The third being the logical side that says " what if " ? What if everyone at that " Congressman on the Corner meeting " had been armed? The reality is, this lunatic would have gotten off maybe 1 or 2 shots and then he would have had a bullet in his head instead of 17 more being shot. Yes, I am aware that Arizona does have this law. It was ashame more did not carry that day. Some years ago, Texas, Ohio and several others went forward with legalizing concealed and carry permits for most citizens to carry hand guns. This prompted me to look into the numbers of crime rates for the states. On the surface one thinks that if everyone carry's a gun then we end up like the " O.K. Corral " with their being a shootout everyday at high noon in the middle of the street in front of the office complex. It makes me think of a disgruntled account temp becoming angry with her boss and challenging him to a good old fashion shoot out beside the lunch room. But that does not seem to be the case at all.

AS A MATTER OF FACT, THE NUMBERS SUGGEST A DIFFERENT CASE ALL TOGETHER. According to crime statistics and keep in mind, I did in fact look this up on several websites, here is the NRA's version of them, but they are in fact declining. Do check out the numbers. They all point, be it from the FBI, the States and most local communities, numbers of crime are falling where " Concealed and Carry " laws are in place.

It makes sense. If I am a purse thief, I am more reluctant to run and grab someones purse if the numbers say this lady might be packing heat. I am much more reluctant to walk into a store if I think the store owner is packing a double barrel under the counter. And I am not about to walk up to some rednecks pickup truck at a stop light to steal it for the fear of getting a 44 chrome plated gun stuck between my eyes. I know this has to make sense. If everyone is carrying a Glock in their briefcase or purse, then crime falls. Yes, you are always going to have the drunk wife or husband who loses it and the family has a shootout in the living room. On the other hand that same passion filled argument goes bad when they have steak knives in the house also. I hear about just as many stabbings as I do shootings. How about the baseball bat for that matter. How many crime shows have we watched where the boyfriend ends up pasting the girlfriends head on the wall? Yes, I know it is sick and hard to read, but the fact is we as humans just are not very nice to each-other sometimes. If guns were the trigger for crime and passion, then someone explain Cain and Able to me.

THE BUZZ WORD for this latest American Tragedy seems to be " Hate Speech". Because of what the Pima County Barney Fife said regarding hate speech, it has America talking. The Senator from Vermont, Leahy even threw his two cents in. He has decided that we need legislation regarding Inflammatory Speech. Look folks, let's put this in context.

1. Cain and Able as previously mentioned had a fight and one was killed. Their was no Rush Limbaugh involved, no Sarah Palin and no Glocks were present either.
2. Adolph Hitler murdered 6 million with no talk radio, no Sean Hannity or Glenn Beck.
3. Stalin killed somewhere in the arena of 15-20 million people with no Bill O'Reilly around to tell him to do it.
4. Charles Whitman murdered dozens from atop the Texas Tower in Austin with a " Fairness Doctrine " in place and no Michael Savage to tell him to do it.
5. Jack the Ripper also murdered people with no Glock, no Fox News or Conservative Republican to tell him to do it.

Of course I could list more on here until my computer runs out of ink. I believe I have made my point. Want to know something very interesting about this case that just came out this morning ? Did you know that all the neighbors have said that the Father of the shooter was apparently in fact an alcoholic and abusive father? The very thing that I have written my books ( Raised in Hell ) about is what this father was to this boy. I do preface again with saying, this is according to reports from the neighbors as reported by Fox News. I was in fact reared in a horrendous environment and have never so much as slapped a woman or pulled a gun on someone. Ooops I did lie about that last part. I once had to in New York City when I was delivering a load of meat to Hunts Point New York. I had an armed robber jump on the running board and he tried to steal my load and my truck. I did in fact pull a gun and he of course decided he wasn't willing to fight me for a load of meat. In this case the gun did save my life and property. But as a rule no, I have been in many arguments over the years and never resorted to pulling a gun on anyone.

As I wrote about the other day, we all need to take a deep breath. The Sheriff needs to shut up and go back to doing his Lawfully elected job of building his case against this " suspect " to insure he is locked up or put to death. The people need to tell all of these " capitalizing politicians " that we are not giving up our rights to free speech. We need to keep doing what we have been doing by running back ground checks on gun purchases. Yes, some slip through the cracks, that is life. But the evidence suggest that people will kill people and it has been going on since the beginning of time. If not with a club, then a knife, if not with a bat, then a gun, if not with a bomb, then with nerve gas and the list of abuse against our fellow humans go on. A human given the right circumstances will always find a way to kill another. Would the same be said had he driven a pickup into that crowd at 60mph and wiped out 20? Are we going to ban pickup trucks? Are we going to ban steak knives? Are we going to ban baseball?

Democracy is and needs to be adversarial. That is what creates a balance in our laws and society. Politicians will always be passionate about their beliefs. History says that Thomas Jefferson and John Adams called some of their fellow lawmakers some horrible names. They just did so very eloquently. The fact is this is the way our system is set up. People are passionate about their beliefs. That is if they have a spine to do so. I will raise my voice to sell my point and Obama will raise his to sell his point. WE ARE ALL AMERICANS. WE WILL SQUABLE OCCASIONALLY. THAT IS JUST THE WAY IT IS. THAT IS THE WAY IT HAS ALWAYS BEEN AND THAT IS THE WAY IT SHOULD REMAIN. THE KEY IS, BE RESPECTFUL AND BE TOLERANT OF OTHERS BELIEFS. I do not have to like your belief, but I need to respect that you have the right to that belief. The long lasting danger in all of this is this. If we start changing our laws and rights because of random instances, then we are truly doomed as a nation and as a people. England has speech laws and they still have murders. China has them, Russia has them. They all still have crimes against humanity. They all have gun laws and the crimes still happen. We need to use some common sense here people.
